Associate Level Certifications

Certified Emergency Power Systems Specialist (CEPSS)
Showcase your competency and ability to keep facilities in compliance with NFPA 110, Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems, and NFPA 111, Standard on Stored Electrical Energy Emergency and Standby Power Systems. The CEPSS signifies your knowledge of critical installation, maintenance, and operation and testing requirements for emergency and standby power systems and stored electrical energy emergency and standby power systems.
Certified Emergency Power Systems Specialist (CEPSS-HC)
The CEPSS-HC certifies you have the knowledge and skills to evaluate the emergency standby power systems in hospitals and other health care facilities. Certified Electrical Safety Technician (CEST)

Certified Fire Alarm ITM Specialist (CFAITMS) for Facility Managers

The CFAITMS provides recognition in your industry and the confidence you can understand the abundant demands related to a robust fire alarm inspection, testing, and maintenance program, and how to stay in compliance with the code.
Certified Fire Inspector I (CFI-I)
Validate your ability to meet NFPA 1031, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspector and Plan Examiner, requirements and other related code and standard provisions with this ProBoard accredited certification. Certified Hazard Recognition Specialist (CHRS)

Certified Sprinkler ITM Specialist for Facility Managers (CSITMS)
Earn your CSITMS to indicate your understanding of how to keep facilities in compliance with NFPA 25, Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems. The credential indicates knowledge of the broad range of challenges associated with a proper sprinkler system ITM program and helps position yourself for advancement in your field.

Professional Level Certifications

Certified Electrical Safety Compliance Professional (CESCP)
Demonstrate you have the aptitude to help companies and employees decrease the risks of injuries in the workplace. The CESCP is the only professional certification that documents you are up-to-date and proficient in all aspects of the practices, concepts, and regulatory requirements found in NFPA 70E®, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace®. Certified Electrical Safety Worker (CESW)
The CESW certification program builds on the knowledge base of CEST and takes it up a notch. Certified Fire Inspector II (CFI-II)

Certified Water-Based Fire Protection System Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance (WBITM)
The WBITM is for experienced sprinkler ITM technicians, contractors, and other professionals who have the knowledge and skills to perform the full spectrum of inspection, testing, and maintenance duties independently, without supervision. The WBITM certification is a useful metric for employers and customers to use in gauging qualifications of ITM professionals.

Expert Level Certifications

Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
The CFPS® is the gold-standard credential for fire protection professionals looking to elevate their careers. Show your professional competency in the application of fire safety, protection, prevention, and suppression technologies by earning this graduate-level, globally recognized certification.
Certified Marine Chemist (CMC)
Establish that you are qualified to determine whether entry and work within confined spaces on marine vessels and within shipyards may be undertaken safely in accordance with NFPA 306, Standard for the Control of Gas Hazards on Vessels. NFPA Marine Chemists are distinguished as the only independent specialists incorporated by name in both U.S. Department of Labor (OSHA) requirements for shipyard employment and U.S. Coast Guard hot work regulations.

How much do NFPA Certification Programs cost?

  • There is a $399 certification program fee for each certification with the exception of CHRS, which is $245.
  • A $180 recertification fee applies for all except CFPS, which has a $145 annual renewal fee.

What is the difference between the Associate Level, Professional Level, and Expert Level Certifications?

  • Associate = Open to anyone at any point in their career. An Associate Level Certification validates experience in your specialized work.
  • Professional = Ideal for candidates with some prior experience in the applicable field. A Professional Level Certification is a preliminary stepping-stone towards an Expert Level certification.
  • Expert =  Available for authorities in their field. The Expert Level Certification verifies your expertise. Requirements may include on-the-job experience, higher education, and additional qualifications and may call for more extensive study and preparation. Candidates operate at an expert level.

How can I confirm if I am eligible for a particular NFPA Certification?

  • Associate Level Certification requires high school diploma, or equivalent, only. CEST also requires training.
  • Professional and Expert Level Certifications have additional requirements, such as work experience, higher education, and/or training hours.
