The Augusta Project

On January 16, 2020, the city of Augusta, Georgia, embarked on a yearlong journey to implement NFPA 3000™ (PS), Standard for an Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (ASHER) Program.

It’s the first time an entire community has come to NFPA and asked for its help in implementing the groundbreaking standard, which was released in May 2018. At the end of the year, Augusta—a city of 200,000 people situated on the eastern edge of Georgia—will emerge stronger than ever before, ready to take on one of the United States' most urgent public health crises.
